Peter Barker’s photographic portraits capture the longstanding trades and crafts practised around the East Riding, such as watchmaking and bookbinding, alongside image of newer skills such as nail painting and computer repair.
The contemplative portraits record the tools, skills and concentration at the heart of today’s manual production and show that the connection between thinking and doing, jeopardised by the production line, endures in such activities.
