York St Mary’s is a beautiful medieval church which opened as a contemporary art venue in 2004. Each year, York Art Gallery commissions an artist to create a site specific installation within this unique space or invites an artist to show an existing work.
The artists find inspiration within the walls of this atmospheric building and their work transforms it anew each summer.

York St Mary's is in the centre of York next to the Coppergate Shopping Centre. It is a 20 minute walk from the railway station.
The nearest car park is the Castle car park next to Clifford's Tower.
