Calderdale Museums Service is responsible for around 5,000 items of Fine Art, including oil paintings, watercolours, drawings and prints.
This exhibition displays a group of portraits which has been selected to show a variety of works from different ages and techniques.
The exhibition highlights the Museum Service’s work to conserve at least one painting to help preserve it for the future. Some of the paintings and frames on display need some conservation work because of their age and condition when given to the Service. To restore a painting and fix the frame costs a few thousand pounds funded by donations from visitors to the gallery.
