Mark Wallinger’s significant work Threshold to the Kingdom goes on display at Leeds Art Gallery for the first time in almost 10 years.

Mark Wallinger shot his slow-motion film covertly, capturing passengers coming through international arrivals at London City Airport. Accompanied by the haunting ‘Miserere’ by Gregorio Allegri, the video appears to have a double meaning: arrival at the United Kingdom, but also at the kingdom of heaven, with a border guard playing the role of St. Peter.

Mark Wallinger is best known for his investigations of identity and power; he works across film, photography, installation and sculpture.
