To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bradford-born, innovative abstract painter’s death, this revelatory exhibition brings together all of the work by Francis Butterfield work held in the collections of Leeds Art Gallery.

The display includes the very first abstract work to enter the Leeds collection in 1937, Figure Derivation. Watercolours and drawings which have not been exhibited before are on display, along with recently discovered and previously unseen material from a private collection.
