The theme of Home recurs in Olivia Hemingway’s photography, whether she’s working on projects in her home town of Huddersfield or in locations such as London, New York, Lithuania and Japan.
She captures everyday moments in cafes, pubs, personal spaces, artist studios and explores stories through informal portraits and detailed images of objects.
Olivia Hemingway’s work is often centred around stories and interviews, alongside photography. Included in the exhibition are recent portraits of Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch), Sir Patrick Stewart (Star Trek, X Men) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, 300) photographed in specially chosen locations around the Huddersfield area and interviewed as part of a series about the local hospital.
The HOME exhibition showcases She Took to Flight (below) a detailed macro image of a small glass bird, which is symbolic of the owner’s vivid past and treasured memories, enlarged and then displayed as a giant print.
